Engineer applicants must already be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist in the Civil Engineering Discipline.

Applicants must also have experience in the design and specification of timber roof structures and have an interest in developing this experience and knowledge.

Successful applicants who have demonstrated a track record of taking responsibility for timber roof structures as a "Competent Person" and have the competence to assess design calculations generated by ITC-SA system software as well as demonstrated competence to correctly assess the erection and bracing of timber roof structures may issue ITC-SA branded digital roof loading certificates on the ITC-SA platform. No other use of a members ITC-SA branding may be used to issue a "Form 3" or "Form 4".  Engineer members must have Professional Indemnity Insurance in place that includes timber roof structures.

All ITC-SA registered members are required to be in possession of, or have easy access to, the current compulsory SANS codes of Practice, Building Regulations and statutory requirements for ease of reference. Copies of these can be purchased from the SABS website. This includes SANS 10082, SANS 10400 Part L, SANS 10160-2 and 3, SANS 10163, SANS 10243, SANS 1783 and SANS 10005.
