The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) is piloting an online services platform for builder registration and renewal applications.

The pilot project went live in KwaZulu-Natal in December 2021. Gauteng and Mpumalanga will follow early this year before it rolls out nationally.

“This is part of the broader NHBRC digital services strategic initiative that seeks to deliver services in an easier, simpler, and smarter format,” explains NHBRC CEO Songezo Booi. “Digitalising our services will bring significant improvements to how the organisation serves its stakeholders. It will enable us to provide efficient and secured ways of accessing services, thereby expanding our footprint.”

The NHBRC is also piloting e-certificates stamped with a validating QR code, a new registration number sequence for the online channel, and a watermarked NHBRC logo.

Booi advises homeowners, home buyers, and financial institutions dealing with contractors, property developers, or builders to use the online system to verify their credentials.
