In a bid to ensure the standards and training of the timber roof truss industry in South Africa, the Institute for Timber Construction South Africa (ITC-SA) has entered into a memorandum of agreement with both the Professional Roof Repair and Waterproofing Association (PRAWA) and the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), respectively.

These partnerships were established to build on industry ties and support collaborative efforts to improve and uphold industry standards and training in the timber roof truss sector. These memoranda of agreement have been set in place to create a cooperative and collaborative framework through which these three industry bodies will achieve a more unified and robust timber roof truss industry.

Areas of collaboration

These partnerships will pave the way for these bodies to link their training process with training facilities, conduct educational awareness and disseminate information related to the same, leverage the communal network for a more robust reach in the market, and provide shared access to experts in their respective fields for advice.

The process of implementation of the above will be assessed and evaluated by a Monitoring and Implementation Committee, to be formed by all parties.

A resilient timber roof truss industry ‒ together

The ITC-SA, PRAWA, and the SAICE agree to agree to undertake, to the best of their abilities, the promotion and support of the implementation of these activities, where these relate to the compliance of the National Building Regulations and industry best practices.
